HENRY ZIMMERMAN
At his request, no funeral will be held for Henry Zimmerman, a piano tuner who lived in San Rafael for eight years.
Zimmerman died of an apparent heart attack Friday at a San Rafael residence where he was tuning a piano, He was 66.
Zimmerman was born in Germany, where he learned his trade. He moved to Palestine in 1936. Zimmerman lived there for 14 years. He was a clarinetist in the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra.
He came to the United States in 1950 and worked as a piano tuner and technician for the New York firm of Steinway and Sons. He tuned pianos for performances at Carnegie Hall.
Zimmerman came to California 14 years ago and to Marin in 1969.
Two years ago, Zimmerman opened his own piano tuning business in San Rafael.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gertrude Zimmerman of San Rafael.
The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
