Sister Mary Frances
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held tomorrow for Sister Mary Frances Sampson of San Rafael at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, Benicia.
Sister Mary Frances, a four-year resident of San Rafael, died in a local hospital Saturday after along illness. She was 52.
She was born in Phoenix, Ariz., and lived there for 30 years. She was a graduate of Arizona State Teachers College in Tempe.
Sister Mary Frances, who joined the Dominican order after the death of her husband in 1971, came to California in 1956.
She was a teacher in the Benicia public schools before joining the order.
Sister Mary Frances taught elementary school in several locations throughout Northern California under the auspices of Dominican College in San Rafael.
Sister Mary Frances is survived by her son, George Sampson of San Jose; a daughter, Helen Sampson of Weaverville, Trinity County; her sister, Nora Rogers of Santa Clara; and her brother, Guy Lunt Jr. of Globe, Ariz.
The Rosary will be recited today at 7:30 p.m. at Dominican Convent Chapel, San Rafael. Burial will be at St. Dominic Cemetery, Benicia.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Dominican Convent Charity Fund or a favorite charity.
