LILLIAN RUSSELL

A private funeral for Lillian A. Russell, who lived in San Rafael for 10 years, was held yesterday.

Mrs. Russell, 89, died Friday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.

A native of Leavenworth, Kans., she moved to Barstow in 1921 where she worked as a Harvey girl, cooking for railroad workers. In 1936, she moved to Napa. She worked as a waitress in the Yountville Veterans Home for 27 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Kuehchler of San Anselmo, Lucile Mathews of Etna, Siskiyou County, and Eileen Kelgard of Yacolt, Wash.; a brother, Edward Haug of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren and sis great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.

A Death Notice in the August 29 paper gives Betty’s name as Kuechler.
