Despondent Woman Takes Own Life

Despondent over ill health of long standing, Mrs. Emma Fenton, divorced wife of a former Clerk of Sacramento county, shot and killed herself last Saturday afternoon in her cottage near the Hotel Rafael.

The body was found by Thomas F. Chatfield, brother of the woman, upon his return from his office. He is with the George D. Shearer Company here, and with his sister had resided her for some time.

A .32 calibre revolver was found by the woman’s side and there was a bullet hole in the forehead. According to Dr. J. H. Kuser, autopsy surgeon, and Coroner J. Ray Keaton death must have been instantaneous.

The remains were removed to the coroner’s office and later shipped to Sacramento for burial. Mrs. Fenton was about 45 years of age.
