Founder of Church Here Dies in L.A.
David A. Brown, one of the thirteen charter members and founders of the Presbyterian church in San Rafael nearly a half century ago, passed away Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. T. Craig, in Los Angeles, where he had been making his home for a great many years. He was 86 years of age.
He will be recalled by some of the pioneer residents here as an upright and highly respected man. With his wife, who passed away some years ago, and his children, he made his home on the former George Dickson ranch, near White’s Hill.
He was one of the first elders of the church here and had been associated actively in church work in Los Angeles since leaving San Rafael. He was an uncle by marriage of Robert H. and Miss L. P. Trumbull. He is survived by five children, Mrs. Craig, with whom he made his home; the Misses Hattie and May Brown and W. D. Brown, of San Francisco, and Mrs. H. R. Bennett, of New York.
Funeral services were held this morning in Los Angeles, and the body will be shipped here for burial tomorrow under the direction of the F. E. Sawyer Company.
