E. G. Coughlin Dies Suddenly
Edward G. Coughlin, Deputy County Auditor and former Mayor of Sausalito, passed away suddenly at the St. Francis Hospital in San Francisco last Sunday.
The death came as a shock to his great number of friends here and in Sausalito where he occupied a place of high esteem among his townsmen. Although he had not been well for several weeks, his illness, uremic poisoning, died not reach an acute stage until a few days before his death.
For many years the deceased held a responsible position with the Northwestern Pacific Company and was stationed at t he Sausalito ferry. Later he was elected as a town trustee and in his second term was named as chairman of the board. For the past four years he had held the office of deputy under County Auditor E. J. Connell. HE was well like by all of the county officials, most of whom attended the funeral services held at the Star of the Sea Church in Sausalito Tuesday. He was 41 years and 6 months of age and was unmarried. Active in fraternalism, he held membership in the Elks lodge of San Rafael, Sea Point Parlor of the Native Sons, and Muir Lodge, of the Knights of Pythias.
He was a brother of Mrs. Earl Pillsbury, Mrs. O. Anderson, Isabelle G. Coughlin, John J., Thomas L. and James H. Coughlin.
Burial was made in Fernwood cemetery in Sausalito.
