Novato Pioneer Passes Away
With the death last Monday of Antone V. DeBorba at the Cottage Hospital here after a long and severe illness Marin county lost one of its best known citizens.
He was a prosperous ranch[er] in the Novato district for many years and up to his retirement some years ago had been active in fraternal societies and politics. In his earlier days he served as a peace officer in his township.
The funeral held this morning, with the celebration of a requiem high mass at St. Raphael’s church, was one of the largest held here for some time, his sorrowing friends from all parts of the county gathering to pay their last respects to the deceased.
His wife, Mrs. Anna DeBorba, having passed away some years ago, he is survived by six children. They are Antone DeBorba Jr., Dr. F. J. DeBorba and Joseph DeBorba, Mrs. M. Almada, Mrs. Amelia Bello and Rose DeBorba.
The deceased was a member of Novato Council No. 45, U.P.E.C., Novato Council No. 91, I.D.E.S. and also of Novato Council I.D.E.S. Independent. He was 64 years of age and a native of Azores Islands. Burial was made under the direction of the F. E. Sawyer Company.
