VIRGINIA V. HERNANDEZ

Virginia V. Hernandez, a native and longtime resident of Sausalito, died yesterday at a Fremont convalescent home after a long illness.

She was married in 1922 in San Rafael to the late Louis Hernandez, who ran a variety store business. They made their home in Sausalito for nearly 50 years. She was a member of the Star of the Sea Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Wanda J. Madsen of Tamalpais Valley, and a son, Robert J. Hernandez of Hayward. Also surviving are a sister, Henrietta Backman, Mill Valley, a brother, Manuel Mancebo of Larkspur, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Star of the Sea Church in Sausalito followed by burial at Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael. The Rosary will be recited tonight at 8 p.m. in Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. The family prefers memorial contributions to charity.
