J. RAYMOND OSTRANDER
J. Raymond Ostrander of Kentfield, a 30-year Marin resident, died Saturday in a local convalescent hospital after a long illness. He was 81.
Ostrander was born in San Francisco. He served with the Army medical corps in France during World War I.
Ostrander worked as a mortician for 50 years. He retired in 1964.
He was a post commander of Zane Irwin Post 93 of the American Legion in San Francisco and was a member of the Joseph McQuaide Post 120 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in San Francisco and the 144th Field Artillery Association of California.
Ostrander was also a member of the Grizzlies and the Retired Funeral Directors Association of San Francisco.
He is survived by his wife, Grace M. Ostrander of Kentfield; a sister, Marie A. Ostrander of San Francisco; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Heart Association of Marin.
