FATHER KENNEY
Concelebrated Mass for the Rev. Raymond Kenney will be said tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin’s Church in Sunnyvale.
Father Kenney died Friday in a Sunnyvale convalescent home. He was 74.
Born in San Francisco, he was ordained in the ministry in 1927. His first assignment was to San Quentin Prison.
Twenty years later, he became pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Point Reyes Station. Because he used to sponsor rodeos, he won the nickname, the “Cowboy Padre,” and it stayed with him the rest of his life.
Father Kenney was pastor of St. Martin’s Church in Sunnyvale from 1954 to 1974. The Rosary will be said there at 8 p.m. today.
