LARRY ALLEN
Funeral will be held tomorrow for Larry (Lorentz L.) Allen of Nicasio, a former theatrical agent, producer and manager, who died Saturday at a local hospital after a long illness. He was 73.
A native of Oregon, he was a fulltime resident of Marin for the past 18 years and a part-time resident since 1940. He graduated in 1927 from Oregon State University with a degree in business administration.
He was manager of an early radio station in Portland, Ore., and later served as manager of radio station KNBC in San Francisco. He also served as manager for a number of celebrities, including Bing Crosby and Art Linkletter.
In San Francisco, he produced a series of classical concerts at the civic opera house and a radio and television series called “Standard Hour Broadcasts.”
He was a member of a duck conservation group and the Bohemian Club in San Francisco.
Survivors include his wife, Allegra M. Allen, daughter Mary Allen and son-in-law Fenton Calley, all of Nicasio. Also surviving are two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael, followed by burial at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery. The family prefers contributions to the American Cancer Society.
