Man Killed In Fall From Train

J. W. Jackson, about whom little is known except that he was a former railroad man and resided in Willits, died at the Emergency Hospital Wednesday morning from injuries received the night before when he fell from the Eureka train on the outskirts of San Rafael.

The trainmen, apprized of the accident, stopped the train and took the injured man back to the depot, from where he was transferred to the hospital.

Dr. J. H. Kuser found that the man’s skull was fractured and he was suffering from burns received from the third rail. He did not regain consciousness before death.

Jackson was about 36 years of age. He carried a card indicating that he held membership in the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. The body was removed to Coroner J. Ray Keaton’s morgue to await further developments in the matter of identification.
