Boy Known Here Drowns In Stockton
Sperry Bodwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Bodwell, of Lakeville, Sonoma county, and a student at the Mount Tamalpais Military Academy, was drowned yesterday when he fell from a high bank into Yosemite Lake, in Stockton.
The boy, aged 16, had gained permission from his mother, who, with her son, was visiting relatives in Stockton, to fish in the lake. He failed to return to luncheon and his mother went to the lake, where she learned that a boy had been drowned and the body removed to the morgue. She identified the body as that of her son.
Charles A. Bodwell is well known in Marin county. Some years ago he was a candidate for election to Congress. The boy was a grandson of the late Austin Sperry, founder of the Sperry Flour Mills, of Stockton.
