Death Ends Illness of Mrs. E. O. Allen
It was with deep grief that many people in San Rafael learned Wednesday of the death in Berkeley the previous day of Mrs. Winifred Augustine Allen, wife of Attorney Edward O. Allen and daughter of Dr. and Mrs. S. M. Augustine.
She had been ill for a long time, and for the past three or four months had been confined to her bed. The knowledge of those who held Mrs. Allen in the highest esteem that her illness was most serious in no way lessened the keen sorrow that followed the announcement of her death. San Rafael was her home since birth until her removal a few years ago to Berkeley, where she passed away.
She is survived by her husband, two children, Edward and Augustine Allen, and her grief-stricken father and mother. She was the sister of Mrs. Robert Variel Jr., of Los Angeles.
The funeral, held this afternoon from the Berkeley Unitarian Church, was attended by many San Rafael people, who sympathize deeply with those immediately affected by the death of Mrs. Allen.
