FRANCES L. MEFFORD
A funeral for Frances L. Mefford, a 50-year resident of Mill Valley, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel, Mill Valley.
Mrs. Mefford, 84, died Saturday in a Santa Rosa Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Indiana, she moved to California when she was 11 years old. She moved to Mill Valley in 1925. She worked for many years as a secretary in the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco. She retired in 1956. Her husband, Harold, was a mechanic for the United Parcel Service. He died in 1970. Three years ago, Mrs. Mefford moved to Santa Rosa to live with her daughter.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mill Valley and the First United Methodist Church in Santa Rosa. She was a member of the Eschsocholtzia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Coalinga and a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Mill Valley.
She is survived by a daughter, Lenora “Ray” McClure of Santa Rosa; a son, Harold Jr. of Rancho Cordova; a sister, Mary Jensen of Daly City; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery. The family prefers memorial gifts to the United Methodist Church of Mill Valley Memorial Fund, Camino Alto and Sycamore Avenues, Mill Valley 94941.
