ARTHUR G. DETTNER Sr.
Former Marin resident Arthur G. Dettner Sr. died at his San Francisco home Tuesday after a long illness. He was 78.
Dettner lived in Ross for more than 30 years before moving to San Francisco seven years ago.
He was chairman of the board of Dettner’s Printing House Inc., a San Francisco firm founded by his father.
Dettner was born in San Francisco. He served as a lieutenant in the Army during World War I.
He was a founding member of the World Trade Club as well as the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross and was a membe3r of the Olympic Club, the San Francisco Yacht Club, the Ross Valley Players, Rainbow Post 2065 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in San Francisco and Printing Industries of America.
He is survived by his wife, Mabelle Dettner of San Francisco; three sons, Arthur Dettner Jr., Robert Dettner and Lawrence Dettner, all of San Francisco; a sister, Mrs. Robert King of Oakland; two brothers, Frank Dettner of Kentfield and Stanley Dettner of Santa Rosa; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at N. Gray & Co., 1545 Divisadero St., San Francisco. Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
The family prefers contributions to the San Francisco Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or a favorite charity.
