Inquest Held On Mill Valley Boy
An inquest was held by Coroner J. Ray Keaton Tuesday evening in Mill Valley to inquire into the circumstances surrounding the death of 2-year-old William Stewart who died from injuries received when the machine in which he was riding was struck at Park street station in Mill Valley by a Northwestern Pacific electric train.
The jury found that the accident was due to negligence of the railroad employees in failing to stop the train before it reached the crossing, upon which the automobile was stalled.
The machine was driven by Edward H. Soberanes, grandfather of the little boy, who is now in a Mill Valley hospital suffering from shock and severe burns from the electric current.
The child was hurried to the Emergency hospital here where it was treated by Dr. J. H. Kuser, who at once pronounced the injuries fatal. Both legs were amputated by the car wheels. The little one died about 11 o’clock the night of the accident.
District Attorney Henry Greer was present at the inquest, which was held in the Town Hall at Mill Valley.
