JACOB UHRIG

The funeral service for Jacob Uhrig, 89, of Mill Valley, retired office manager for Folger Coffee Co. in San Francisco, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel, Mill Valley.

Uhrig died Friday at a local hospital after a long illness.

Uhrig worked for the Folger company for 44 years until his retirement in 1958. He developed and supervised the billing, tabulating and statistical departments.

Uhrig was a native of Germany who taught in schools in Holcheim and Godleau-Erfelden before moving to the United States in 1913.

He had been a resident of Mill Valley since 1918.

Uhrig, active in Masonic organizations, was honored by fellow Masons last November when he retired after 45 years as secretary of Mill Valley Lodge 356, Free and Accepted Masons.

He was a member of the Royal Arch Masons, Islam-Temple of San Francisco, the Scottish Rites of San Francisco, Council Knights Templar, Marian County Shrine Club and Eastern Star.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Private burial will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
