Mrs. Sarah L. Studley Dies Unexpectedly
One of the saddest deaths that has occurred in this city for years took place last Wednesday when the grim reaper gathered Mrs. Sarah Louisa Studley to an early and final rest.
Death is always sad but in this instance it was particularly so. A young wife and mother scarce past the age of womanhood, called away from a devoted husband and a little baby just beginning to see through his eight month’s old eyes. The death was sad and the blow to relatives and friends was very heavy.
Mrs. Studley was twenty-two years old and the wife of Arthur Studley. She was a sister of Fred. Croker, the well known real estate dealer and Mrs. Frank James.
Her illness extended over a period of some weeks but it was never thought that it could result fatally. Her death, therefore, in addition to being a shock came as a surprise to all.
On Thursday kind friends expressed a portion of their sorrow and paid a tribute of love to the departed by literally burying the casket beneath a bank of flowers as it stood in the spacious room of the Studley home on Latham street.
The funeral took place on Friday afternoon. The services were held at the Episcopal church where the Rev. Dr. Craig delivered an eloquent sermon on the life of the deceased. The interment took place at Mount Tamalpais cemetery, where scores of friends came to pay their last respects to one who had been dear to them in life.
