Wife Sees Husband Sink Beneath Waves

Swept from a rock while fishing last Sunday afternoon at Pebble Beach, near Point Bonita, George J. Noonan, cashier of the Bank of Sausalito, was dashed against a rock and drowned in plain sight of his wife, Mrs. Lillian Noonan, and a party of friends, who stood helpless on the shore.

The U. S. Coast Guard station was notified immediately and a boat sent out to recover the body, which was brought ashore. Heroic efforts were made to resuscitate the drowned man, but after hours of labor hope was abandoned and Coroner J. Ray Keaton summoned to take charge of the remains.

The deceased was but 29 years of age. He was a highly efficient employee of the Bank of Sausalito and had a host of friends, both in Sausalito and in San Rafael. Besides his widow, he leaves a little son, George Noonan Jr., and three brothers, Peter F., Joseph E. and Philip C. Noonan. The funeral was held yesterday in San Francisco, the remains having been taken to Suhr & Wieboldt’s parlors by the F. E. Sawyer Company.
