Is Ground To Death While Trying To Board A Moving Train
Elmore Dempsey was crushed and burned to death beneath the wheels of a North Shore train at Larkspur on Tuesday night. It is said that he ran to catch the train and in getting aboard his foot slipped. He was thrown to the ground where he came in contact with the third rail and the “shoe” of the motor car. The result was that he was frightfully burned and mangled. The current had to be shut off at the power house and the car raised before his remains could be dragged from beneath the train. Deputy Coroner Morrison immediately brought the body to the county morgue where Justice Magee will hold an inquest. Deceased came from Arizona about three weeks ago and was visiting his brother Harry Dempsey of Corte Madera. He was 23 years of age.
