MARTHA JANE DONNELLY

Funeral was held Friday for Martha Jane Donnelly, 87, a 62-year resident of Marin County.

She died last Monday at the Hillhaven Convalescent Center in Mill Valley.

Services were held at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael and burial was in Sebastopol Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in Sebastopol.

Mrs. Donnelly was born and raised in Santa Rosa. She moved to Sausalito in 1916 as the bride of Frank J. Donnelly, a railroad engineer who died in 1920.

She didn’t have children or remarry.

She was a clerk in the Commercial Department of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. in San Francisco for 30 years before retiring in the fall of 1951.

Mrs. Donnelly moved to Mill Valley in 1956 where she had lived ever since.

She was a member of the Ladies Society to the B.L.F.E. in Sausalito for about 50 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Local 219 in Mill Valley for about 30 years as well as the group’s treasurer for four years. Mrs. Donnelly also was a life member of Telephone Pioneers of American in San Francisco.

She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Camozzi of San Leandro. She was the first cousin of Robert L. Ripley, the creator of Ripley’s Believe It or Not.
