NEL E. IRWIN
A memorial funeral will be held for Nel E. Irwin Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hills Mortuary in San Anselmo. Inurnment will be private.
Mrs. Irwin, 88, died Wednesday at The Redwoods, a Mill Valley convalescent hospital.
A native of Montana, she was a home economics teacher there until she moved to the Panama Canal Zone in 1923 where her late husband Frank Harold Irwin was chief design engineer.
While in the Canal Zone Mrs. Irwin served on the Girl Scouts Council.
She moved to California in 1955 and lived at 7 Vista Wood Way in San Rafael until moving into the Mill Valley convalescent hospital three years ago.
Mrs. Irwin is survived by her daughter Mrs. Jean Ecker of Greenbrae, a son Robert D. Irwin of N.J., sisters Mrs. Marguerite McEvoy of Arizona and Mrs. Hazel Jacobson of Washington. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
