JOHN SCOTT RADER

Funeral services for John Scott Rader, 69, a former Marin County resident who died Friday at Chico Community Hospital in Chico, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Chico.

Rader owned and managed Imports International in Strawberry Town and Country Village in Mill Valley before moving to Chico to retire in 1971.

He was a native of Independence, Mo.

He moved to the San Francisco area in 1936 where he was an inspector for the Key System Transit. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942. After his discharge, he was a sales representative for Folger’s Coffee Co. He later operated his import business.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Local 723 in Lafayette, Chico Elks Lodge Local 423, Christian Church in Independence, Mo., and Sons in Retirement Local 63 in Chico.

Rader is survived by his wife, Mary of Chico; a son, John Scott II of Sebastopol; two step-daughters, Clarice French of Oroville and Wilma Ljubicich of Alaska; a sister, Zoe of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel in Chico.

The family prefers contributions to the Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
