BERNARD M. WEINSTEIN

A memorial service has been held for Bernard M. Weinstein of San Rafael, former president of the Homestead Community Association, at the Sinai Memorial Chapel in San Francisco.

Weinstein, who had worked for the Otis Elevator Co., died Jan. 25 at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco.

Weinstein also was chairman of the association’s Candlelight Concert Series and the concert Sunday at Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club will be dedicated to his memory.

Weinstein had been living in Marin for about 20 years and was a longtime resident of Homestead Valley before moving to San Rafael recently.

He was a native of Massachusetts and a graduate of Harvard University. He was active in Democratic politics and taught English and social studies to aliens preparing for citizenship.

Surviving are two daughters, Sondra Weinstein of Maui, Hawaii, and Melissa Weinstein of Bolinas; his father, Irving Weinstein of Boston, Mass.; a brother, Irving Weinstein of Wisconsin; and a sister, Althea Brunell of Chicago. Burial was at Hills of Eternity Memorial Park, Colma.
