WILLARD F. DOOSE

A private family service for Willard F. Doose, 75, of San Rafael, retired guard and former prison correctional office, was held Saturday at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael.

Doose died Friday at a local hospital after a long illness. He retired as a security guard at the Koch luggage company in Corte Madera about 10 years ago, and previously had been a correctional officer at the state prison in Carson City, Nevada. He also has worked for a short time as a correctional officer at San Quentin Prison.

Doose was a native of Iowa, who moved to San Rafael in 1921 and worked as a deliveryman for the Marin County Milk Co., which was later sold to Borden’s milk company.

During World War II he worked at the Marinship shipyard at Marin City and after the war became a correctional officer. Surviving are his wife, Hilda Doose of San Rafael; a brother, Clarence Doose of San Anselmo and [a sister?] Helen Mullinix of Canton, S.D.

Entombment was at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
