Mrs. E. G. Evans Laid To Final Rest

A keen feeling of genuine universal sorrow was felt here last week when the sad news was brought across the bay that Mrs. Evan C. Evans had at last succumbed to her long illness and was no more. The death occurred at Adler’s Sanitarium in San Francisco on Wednesday night. The funeral took place at St. Paul’s Episcopal church in this city at 10 o’clock last Saturday morning.

The little church, of which the deceased was a leading member during her lifetime, was crowded to the doors by those who came to pay their last respect to one whom they had loved in life and whose memory will always be cherished with loving care by all who knew her.

The Rev. Dr. Hitchcock, an old friend of the family, delivered the funeral sermon. It was eloquent and impressive. The noble life and lovable character of the dead wife and mother furnished an appropriate theme for the instructive sermon.

The interment which was private took place in Mount Tamalpais cemetery. The pall bearers were: S. B. Cushing, George Page, G. M. Pinckard, Harrison Dibblee, Benjamin Dibblee and Albert Dibblee.

At the time of her death Mrs. Evans was but thirty-seven years old. She was raised in this county and though she spent several years abroad, this city was the family home. Until this fatal illness she always enjoyed robust health. Her death is the cause of genuine sorrow by the entire community and the sympathy of all is freely given to the sorrow husband and three young sons.

Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the late Colonel W. H. Harney of San Francisco.
