CHRISTOPHER JENKS
A private funeral will be held for Christopher M. Jenks, a retired attorney from Tiburon.
Jenks, 78, died Tuesday in San Francisco.
A native of Oakland, he was graduated from Stanford University in 1922. He attended Hastings College of Law in San Francisco and was admitted to the California bar in 1926.
He was a private attorney for 40 years. He retired from the San Francisco firm of Orrick, Herrington, Rowley & Sutcliffe. He also served as the assistant vice president for the legal department of Bank of America.
During World War II, he rose from captain to lieutenant colonel in the judge advocate general’s department.
He also served as the vice chairman of the disaster commission of the San Francisco chapter of the American Red Cross.
He was the staff commodore of the St. Francis Yacht Club and a member of the San Francisco Yacht Club. He is a member of the California and San Francisco Bar Associations. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Alpha Delta and the Masonic Lodge.
He and his wife, Vernon, moved to Tiburon five years ago.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rodney P. Jenks of Orinda and Shepherd M. Jenks of Belvedere; a sister, Elizabeth Jenks Early of Oakland, and four grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland.
The family prefers memorial gifts to a favorite charity.
