Dog Guards Body of Dead Master
Standing beside the body of his dead master and friend, a huge shepherd dog guarded the remains of Charles Theriot, caretaker of Cypress Grove, near Marshalls last Thursday for several hours before he would permit neighbors to approach.
It is believed that Theriot, age 68, died of heart trouble early in the day. He fell in the yard about 100 yards from his little cottage. Prospective renters drove into the place in the afternoon but were not allowed by the dog to approach the body. They informed David Steele of the situation, and Steele, accompanied by others, also failed to pacify the dog. Jeff Thompson, owner of Cypress Grove, and friendly with the dog, was then notified, and Thompson succeeded in calling the dog away.
Coroner J. Ray Keaton brought the body to San Rafael and funeral services were held later.
The deceased was a brother of Mrs. R. N. Carson, whose husband is the president of Carson Glove Company.
