MALINA WHITFIELD
A Mass of Christian Burial for Malina Whitfield, a Tomales lay nun, will be offered Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, Tomales.
Mrs. Whitfield died Friday at a San Francisco hospital after a six year illness. She was 40.
Mrs. Whitfield had served as a lay nun affiliated with the Third Order of Saint Dominic.
A native of Oregon, she had lived in Idaho and Petaluma before moving to Tomales a year ago.
She is survived by two daughters, Sister Mary Bernadette of Jesus in Alabama and Lisa Perrone of San Francisco; four sons, John Perrone of Ukiah, Brett Perrone of Boise, Idaho, Philip Perrone of the Hanna Boys Center, Sonoma, and Martin Whitfield of Petaluma; her father, Harold Yoakum Sr. of Petaluma; her mother, Orletta Hook of Santa Rosa; and a brother, Harold Yoakum Jr. of Redwood City.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. today at the Parent Funeral Chapel, Petaluma. Burial will be at the Tomales Catholic Cemetery.
