CONSTANTINE MASTORAKOS

Constantine “Gus” D. Mastorakos, a resident of Novato and former restaurant owner here, died Saturday in a local hospital after a long illness. He was 84.

A native of Greece, he came to the United States as a boy and was raised in the Midwest. He spent most of his life in San Diego and the Bay Area. He lived in Novato for the last 14 years.

He owned the 101 Restaurant that once stood at Grant Avenue and Redwood Boulevard for 15 years until he left in 1977.

He was a member of Blackmer No. 4042 F. & A. M. in San Diego and the Point Richmond Chapter No. 394 of O.E.S.

Survivors include his wife, Oneta Mastorakos of Novato; a son, James C. Mastorakos of San Leandro; a daughter, Peggy Butler of Loomis; two brothers, Athansios Mastorakos of Novato and Chris Mastorakos of San Diego; two sisters in Greece; and two grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church, 1110 Dickson Drive in Ignacio. He will be buried at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.

Trisagion services will be recited at 8 tonight in Keaton’s Chapel of Marin.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church in Novato.
