Former Resident Dies In Long Beach

Word has been received here of the death at Long Beach December 2 of George E. Austin, former resident of San Rafael and son of the late Peter K. Austin, at one time acting sheriff here and for many years acting in an official or semi-official capacity in the court house.

The deceased was born here and resided in San Rafael for many years. In Long Beach he had been a member of the police force for a long time and for 13 years had been connected with the constable’s office there. He was 58 years of age.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. P. K. Austin, a widow, Mrs. Maude V. Austin, a brother, John L. Austin of San Francisco, and two sisters. The funeral was held yesterday under the auspices of the Long Beach Elks Lodge.
