VIRGINIA SELFRIDGE
Funeral for Virginia Beatty Selfridge of Greenbrae, longtime Marin County resident, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ross.
Mrs. Selfridge died Tuesday in a local hospital after a short illness. She was 81.
Mrs. Selfridge, a native of Salt Lake City, had lived in Marin for the past 54 years. She resided with her husband, John S. Selfridge at 501 Via Casitas.
Long a participant in county civic affairs, Mrs. Selfridge helped found the Marin Music Chest in 1932. She was a past president of the Marin Garden Club and an alumnus of Dana Hall in Wellsey, Mass.
A son, the late Theodore Bruce Selfridge, served on the Ross Town Council for five years.
She is also survived by a daughter, Adelaide S. Green of Ross; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Marin Music Chest or a favorite charity.
