WINIFRED MICHELS
Kentfield – A memorial service for Winifred Michels of Mesa, Ariz., mother of Marjorie Connarn of Kentfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 30 in the Church of Our Master in Mesa.
Mrs. Michels died Saturday in a Marin County hospital after becoming ill while visiting her daughter. She was 82.
She was born in Wild Rice, N.D., the daughter of the late Sen. and Mrs. George D. Brown.
She taught school in North Dakota and Minnesota, then moved to Arizona where she taught for more than 20 years, until she was 70. She also served as principal and schools superintendent.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a brother, Charles C. Brown, of Whittier, and a granddaughter.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Community Hemodialysis Unit, Inc., of Larkspur, or to any favorite charity.
