Mrs. Harriet Wilkins Is Called To Rest
This city lost an old and beloved pioneer last Thursday when Mrs. Harriett Hepburn Wilkins died here at the home of her son, James H. Wilkins. Deceased was eighty-three years of age and had resided in this city for over forty years. Years ago, and until the infirmities of old age made it impossible, Mrs. Wilkins was prominent in the social life of the city. She was always a leader in charitable endeavors and gave freely and silently to all that was worthy. Of late years old age enforced its demands and prevented her from mingling with the people who knew and loved her. To the very last she was a true mother and friend. Time dealt kindly with her and did not rob her of those worthy traits that had won for her the love of all who have the good fortune to know her.
She was the mother of James H. Wilkins, and of the late Hepburn Wilkins, the well known attorney. The funeral took place from the family residence on Saturday and was private, only the family being present. The services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Hitchcock, after which the interment took place in Mt. Tamalpais cemetery. The pall bearers were: Judge Henshaw, Edgar M. Wilson, James H. Wilkins, Charles C. Nichols, and Harry Wilkins.
