GWYNNE WHETZLER
Gwynne “Buzz” Whetzler, a resident of Marin for more than 20 years, died Wednesday following a short illness. He was 71.
A native of San Francisco, Whetzler pitched in the Pacific Coast League during the 1930s. He was also a Navy veteran, fighting in Okinawa during World War II.
Before his retirement, Whetzler was a sales representative for liquor firms. He was a member of the San Geronimo Club.
Whetzler is survived by his wife, Augustina Whetzler; his mother, Adelaide Koller of Oakland; his stepchildren, Ken Gellati of San Anselmo and Donna Kogan of New York; and his sister, Naomi Kirkwood of Albany.
The rosary will be recited at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
The family prefers memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
