Killed at Larkspur
Last Friday night Mrs. Mattie Jackson of San Francisco was killed while trying to board the 10:35 train at Larkspur. The train was moving when she reached the station and she threw herself from the platform into the baggage car door landing upon her stomach. The train was moving rapidly and the woman being unable to cling to anything fell backward striking her head on the rail of the other track. She was removed to the Hotel Larkspur where she was attended by Doctors Kromton and Williams. She died of concussion of the brain some hours later.
There is an air of mystery about the case. The woman came over from San Francisco with Josiah R. Rogers, who keeps a saloon on Third street in that city. They came over on the 7:20 train to visit Roger’s ark and were running to catch the train when the accident happened. The inquest has been set for Friday evening and a searching inquiry will be made into the whole matter.
