CHARLES T. COIT
Funeral services for Charles T. Coit of Calistoga, a former resident of Marin, will be held t his evening at 7:30 at Morrison Funeral Chapel, St. Helena. Private burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, St. Helena.
Coit, 56, died Friday in a Napa hospital after suffering a heart attack at work.
Coit was Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s regional manager for the upper Napa Valley. He joined the utility in 1947 as a clerk in the general construction department.
Coit was born in San Francisco and grew up in San Rafael. He graduated from San Rafael High School and studied business at the University of San Francisco.
Coit was a veteran of World War II, serving with combat engineers in the Pacific. He saw action in the Aleutians, Philippines, Marshall Islands and Okinawa.
He was a member of the Rotary Club of St. Helena.
He served for nine years as a trustee of the Calistoga School District.
He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Farley; two sons, Steven Coit of Calistoga and Charles Coit Jr. of Napa; two daughters, Mrs. James L. Welch of Clovis and Carole Coit of Calistoga; and one granddaughter.
His family asked that memorial contributions go to the Rotary Club Foundation, c/o Rotary Club, St. Helena.
