John W. Benway, civil war veteran, aged 72 years, died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home in Lagunitas. He was found by Patrick Gahan, merchant, who visited the house to learn the cause of Benway’s absence from his customary haunts for several days previously. Investigation proved that the man had died within a few moments before he was found. Coroner J. Ray Keaton took charge of the remains. Benway leaves no relatives.
