WILLIAM R. KANE
Funeral services were held Monday from the Keaton & Dusel Chapel for Captain WILLIAM R. KANE, "grand old man of the San Rafael police force," who died Saturday morning at the age of 81. He passed away following a physical decline of many months duration.
After serving 31 years with the San Francisco fire department, Captain KANE came to Marin County, and for 11 years, or until 1918, served with the San Rafael fire department as a captain. He then was transferred to the police department. His last active duty was as a special officer at school crossings and at Gerstle Park, giving a total of 32 years service to San Rafael.
Capt. KANE was a native of Boston. His wife, Mrs. ROSELLA KANE, died several years ago. He leaves 2 daughters, Mrs. ROSELLA HART and Mrs. FLORA McLAUGHLIN, and 2 sons, RICHARD W. KANE, and SABIN D. KANE. Seven grandchildren also survive.
