JOSEPH L. D. MORTON
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said for Joseph L. D. Morton of Novato at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony’s Church in Novato.
Morton, 80, died Tuesday after a long illness at a local retirement center.
A native of Ohio, he lived most of his life in Michigan before moving to California about 30 years ago. He settled in Novato a year ago, moving from Oceanside.
He was retired from working in flight operations at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino.
Morton served in the U.S. Army in World War I when he was disabled from poison gas wounds suffered during combat.
He was a former member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Gretchen Morton of Novato; two daughters, Virginia M. Imhoff of Novato and Patricia King of Michigan; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He will be buried in Bahia Valley Memorial Park in Novato.
The rosary will be recited for him at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.
