Girl Killed, Four Hurt In Wreck
Jennie Biglieri, 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Biglieri, of 166 Parker avenue, San Francisco, was instantly killed and four other persons were slightly injured last Friday night when the automobile in which they were riding struck a band of cattle on the Petaluma highway and crashed into a telephone pole.
The others in the party were Carmelia Cordone, Enrico Raffi, Enrico Garbini and Alfredo Drulio.
Miss Biglieri was spending her vacation with Miss Cordone at the Cordone home in San Anselmo and had accompanied the party on a ride to Petaluma.
Sheriff Keating was called to the scene shortly after the accident and made a full investigation. According to Garbini, when the cattle appeared in sight he attempted to turn the machine off the road. The dead girl seized the wheel and in the struggle the car overturned.
Rounding the curve at the top of St. Vincent Orphanage Hill, the machine crashed into the band of cattle before the driver, Enrico Garbini, could stop the car. The machine overturned and rolled into a ditch and pinning the Biglieri girl against a telephone pole. The body was taken in charge by Coroner J. Ray Keaton and the other members of the party were taken to the Emergency Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries. They all rturned to their homes. Miss Cordone telephoned the sad news of the death to the parents of the dead girl. The machine, a Dodge, was badly wrecked.
