STUART H. DUFFY

STUART H. DUFFY, San Rafael business man and chairman of the Democratic County Central Committee for the last year and a half, died at the Veterans Hospital, Fort Miley, on Tuesday after an illness of but a few days.

His passing will bring sincere sorrow to hundreds of his friends. To a very marked degree, it may change the trend of political events insofar as the Democratic party is concerned in this county, for Mr. DUFFY, aside from holding the chairmanship of his party's county organization, distinctly held leadership over a certain numerically strong element of his party.

Mr. DUFFY was as successful in business as he was in making friends - making friends even among those he opposed most bitterly in politics. He served faithfully in the Army during the World War. He made a brave and successful effort to overcome a serious spinal affliction after the war. In spite of the fact that he held to his opinions strongly, his disposition was such that few, if any, held any lasting antagonism towards Mr. DUFFY, or the opinions he saw fit to voice.

Mr. DUFFY leaves 2 brothers; MILTON DUFFY, state food inspector, and EDWARD R. DUFFY, his partner in the business of Duffy Bros., on Lincoln Avenue, San Rafael. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. EDNA NORTON of San Francisco.

Funeral services are being held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Keaton & Dusel Chapel.
