Marin Pioneer Dies In Del Norte

Scores of Marin county pioneers will hear with sorrow the news of the death in Fort Dick November 23 of Natale Giacomini, former resident here and prominent in the days of forty years ago.

He was 84 years of age at the time of his death. His last visit to this county was 25 years ago, and a short time before his death he was contemplating another trip to Marin county to visit his relatives and scores of old friends here.

Mr. Giacomini may be recalled by many old timers as the superintendent about forty years ago of the Austin and Dutton ranch, now known as Sleepy Hollow. At that time he also conducted a butcher shop in San Rafael. In all the years of his absence he has retained a keen interest in Marin county affairs and he has been a regular subscriber to the Marin Journal from the time he removed to Del Norte county. He was the last of three brothers, those who preceded him in death being Batiste and John. His widow, who was Mrs. Rosa Garzoli, and a son, Allis R. Giacomini, survive him. Other surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. L. Mazza, of Tocaloma, and nephews and nieces, R. L. and Samuel Mazza, Mrs. Henrouelle of San Francisco, Mrs. Tom Keating, of Tocaloma, Mrs. C. Bloom, of Olema, Mrs. R. Casarotti, of Fruitvale, and Alvin Giacomini.

The funeral services were conducted by the Odd Fellows lodge, of which he had been a member for a great many years.
