Worry Over Brother Results In Suicide

The coroner’s jury sitting in the case of Albert W. Lane, aged 55, who Friday, was found dead near his home on the outskirts of Novato, found that deceased came to his death by his own hands through suicidal intent. Worry over the predicament of his brother, Charles Lane, who earlier in the week had been committed to the State Hospital at Napa, is believed to have been the cause of the rash act. The two brothers had been inseparable, had worked together for many years, and had prospered.

Last Thursday a sister had noticed Lane acting queerly and she summoned Dr. N. B. Rundall of Petaluma, for the following day, but before the doctor arrived, Lane had gone a short distance from the house and cut his throat. He leaves a family.

The community was shocked to hear of the death of Al Lane who committed suicide on his ranch here on Friday. Mr. Lane was found by his sister, Miss Gertrude Lane of San Francisco, who always spent her weekends at his ranch here.
