ELVES P. CAPELLA
Elves P. Capella, a lifelong Petaluma resident, died Wednesday at a local convalescent hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 72.
Capella had worked 35 years for the Acme Sheet Metal Co. of Petaluma before retiring nine years ago.
In his youth, Capella had worked for the Barlas Feed Co. and during World War II at the shipyard in Richmond. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Sons in Retirement of Petaluma and the sheet metal union.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Capella of Petaluma; a son, Roger L. Dinella of Sausalito; two sisters, Mary Casassa of Kentfield and Elvira Wood of Guerneville; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. today at the Parent Funeral Chapel. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 811 College Ave., Santa Rosa, or to the Hospice of Petaluma, in care of Hillcrest Hospital.
