BARBARA F. McANDREW
Private services for Barbara Fenwick McAndrew, a resident of Ross for more than 30 years before her recent move to Merced, have been held in Merced.
Mrs. McAndrew, 72, died Sept. 10 in a Merced hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. McAndrew was a native of California. She moved to Merced in June to be near a daughter, Jennifer Dibblee.
She was a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and taught at the Katharine Branson School in Ross.
Mrs. McAndrew was a former president and honorary life member of Sunny Hills, helped form its guilds and Bargain Box, and worked on many of its fund-raising Grape Festivals. She also was a former national director of t he Child Welfare League of America, a member of the board of the Bay Area Social Planning Council, former president of the auxiliary of San Francisco General Hospital, and was active in the San Francisco Unitarian Church and United Bay Area Crusade.
She also is survived by a son, Michael McCone of San Francisco; a brother, Hugh Fenwick of Virginia; and five grandchildren. Her husband, Alexander McAndrew, an investment banker, died in 1971. He served as Ross town treasurer for many years.
Her family asked that memorial contributions go to Sunny Hills of the San Francisco Unitarian Church.
