Col. ARTHUR T. PEAK
Col. Arthur Thomas Peak, a 30-year veteran of the Army, died Saturday at home in Tiburon after a long illness. He was 67.
Col. Peak was a native of Kentucky.
He began his military service in June 1940 and served in Kentucky and New York before the outbreak of World War II.
During the war, he saw action in Europe.
Col. Peak later served in Japan and as advisor to the Army of the Republic of Vietnam before being assigned to the Presidio of San Francisco in 1967.
He received three awards of the Legion of Merit, two awards of the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
Col. Peak is survived by his wife, Mary P. Peak; a son, James Peak of Tiburon; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Coletti of San Ramon; a brother, Martin Peak of San Diego; and two sisters, Lillian Leonard and Helen Evans of Radcliff, Ky.
A memorial service was to be held at 11 a.m. today at the Catholic Chapel of the Presidio of San Francisco.
