WILFRED BERT

Wilfred Bert of Novato died last Saturday at the Tamalpais Creek Retirement Home in Novato. He was 88.

Bert, a native of San Francisco, lived in t he Bay Area all his life except for two years during World War I.

He served in the Army Signal Corps in the American Expeditionary Forces in France from 1917 to 1919.

When he returned to the Bay Area after the War he owned and managed Cortland Theater in San Francisco for several years. He also worked as an independent electrician. His last job, before retiring about 20 years ago, was electrician in the San Francisco naval yards.

After retirement, he moved from San Francisco to Sonoma. He moved to Marin last February.

Mr. Bert was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Sons in Retirement. He was an avid model train enthusiast.

He is survived by two cousins, Kenneth Korts of Santa Cruz and Nona Christensen of Saratoga; and a niece, Margaret Zitek of San Rafael.

The Neptune Society handled arrangements.
