Rev. ALEXANDER TURCO
The Rev. Alexander Turco of Petaluma, a retired Presbyterian minister, died Tuesday at his home in Petaluma. He was 91.
Turco was born and reared in Italy. He came to the United States as a young man and enlisted in the Army in 1917. He received the Purple Heart during his military service as a bugler.
Turco for many years was a Presbyterian clergyman in Pennsylvania. After his retirement, he moved to Petaluma in 1959.
He was active in many veterans groups, serving as chaplain.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma, Veterans of World War I, Order of the Purple Heart and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Turco of Petaluma; two sons, Frank Turco of Corte Madera and Alexander J. Turco of Dearborn, Mich.; two sisters, Rosa Finamore and Clotilda DeFranco, both of Long Island, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma.
Burial will be in the Veterans Lawn section at Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma.
